The Future Of Indian Cricket

How long has it been since An Indian Bowler has had the tag " Right arm Fast" or "Left Arm Fast" while he came in to bowl..( even i cant remember! ). Yes, am one of you guys..eagerly waiting to witness such a breakthrough in our team. Expecting what is called a " Steyn  performance " from a fast bowler. ( though practically its impossible to replicate such a performance) . The other day while watching the highlights of RSA Vs PAK test match, i noticed one important thing.. The pace factor! well, you can ask me ' does pace play an important role on our soil ' .. Obviously my answer would be ' No!! ' .But to be judged a better team, its very important to perform overseas!! And for performing, you need resources.. And those resources just cannot be spinners.. The Fast Bowlers cannot rely entirely on Swing! unless you have got pace, you cannot strike.. Especially In Australia and South Africa, the rate at which yo strike wickets depend on pace too.. You can relate to the incidents of Praveen Kumar , Vinay Kumar and so many other 'kumars' who failed to perform in one of the worst years for Indian Cricket during their back to back defeats in 8 matches!! ( that's actually a huge number, thank god we have got no more touring fixtures for the next few years to England and Australia) . And if you noticed one more thing, Umesh Yadav was the player who caught the attention of the board of selectors during the Aussie series. ( but as expected, he too joined the list of injury hit players soon..) . With the Departure of Dravid, Laxman just in a matter of few months has added to the woes of the Team. The main reason being the inability to post a defendable total. Unless you have got enough runs on board, you can never expect a turnover from our bowlers.. Gone are those days when a Kumble or A Harbhajan just rattles the top order of the opponents. The Present Board of selectors are looking for a long term plan for our Indian Cricket, which is actually good.. With the below par performance from the openers- Sehwag and Gambhir affecting the performance of the team, those men who decide the team for the upcoming series against Australia will look to take some bold decisions ( please do not expect me to again use the word 'Revenge series'. The previous experience satisfied me a lot). With The Indian players having the much needed rest( which they have not got for a very long time) and the due return of Our Pace Bowlers- Zaheer, Umesh, Pathan, we have got an interesting contest on this year's calender. The Only player who can repair the team and bolster the line up is our Stylish, dashing Captain MSD! All Hail our Captain Cool! Lets pray that injured players get back to our team as soon as possible.
